End sleepiness instantly after reading this! | Prayer Journal 5/1/2023

It all started with a question

Today in prayer, I was fighting against sleepiness and I really began to analyze how I was feeling. It felt like a weight was being placed over my eyelids, and I was reminded how David prayed against sleepiness in Psalm 13:3 "Consider and hear me, O Lord my God; lighten mine eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death;" I began to talk to the Lord about the slothful man and he reminded me of some scripture;

  • Proverbs 19:15 "Slothfulness casteth into a deep sleep; and an idle soul shall suffer hunger."

  • Proverbs 19:24 "A slothful man hideth his hand in his bosom, and will not so much as bring it to his mouth again."

  • Proverbs 21:25 "The desire of the slothful killeth him; for his hands refuse to labour."

  • Proverbs 22:13 "The slothful man saith, There is a lion without, I shall be slain in the streets."

How is it the slothful man is so lazy he won't even put his had to his mouth? Why do his hands refuse to work, why is he cased into a deep sleep? This slothful man sounds a bit negative, he sees a lion and already believes he's going to get eaten by it! Then the revelation of the slothful man hit me.

The Revelation

It starts with a misunderstanding of "lighten mine eyes". I prayed in the past for God to lighten my eyes, but my understanding at the time was that my eyes had a spiritual darkness. I never thought lightness could also refer to a spiritual weight.

Then the Lord spoke to me, "it's a spiritual weight being applied to your eyes". The rest of the revelation flowed like a flashflood! The weight is from the spirit of slothfulness, the slothful man is weighted down by spiritual weights. He has weights over his eyelids causing him to sleep, weights over his hands making it too heavy to work, and weights over his heart that weight down his hope causing him to give up in fear at the sight of a lion!

The slothful man doesn't know he is burdened by this weight, that's why he's grouped with a man void of understanding;

Proverbs 24:30-34 "30 I went by the field of the slothful, and by the vineyard of the man void of understanding;31 And, lo, it was all grown over with thorns, and nettles had covered the face thereof, and the stone wall thereof was broken down. 32 Then I saw, and considered it well: I looked upon it, and received instruction. 33 Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep: 34 So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth; and thy want as an armed man."

The field of the slothful & man that lacks of understanding is full of thorns & nettles, this is the fruit of rebellion (God's curse on Adam for sowing spiritual seeds of rebellion in the Garden of Eden. Then makes the Earth bring up thorns and thistles, he reaped what he sowed, Gen. 3:18). The broken stone wall is the lack of hope that has broken his wall (shield) of faith. Solomon looked and the Holy Spirit gave him wisdom! Sleep is what leads to poverty, it's spiritual before it's physical.

Take Action!

I took action against this sleepiness, I said;

"I loose the yoke of slothfulness and sluggardness off my eyelids in the name of Jesus Christ"

I was immediately awakened and felt 100% alert. I was running on less than 3 hours of sleep that day too! It was like a shot of expresso without the caffeine! All glory goes to God for revealing this wisdom! It is God's strength that removes the yoke and our faith in Christ that activates it!

The yoke of the spirit of slothfulness effects:

  • Excessive levels of laziness and desires to not work

  • Brings doubt and fear that try to suppress faith and confidence

  • Extreme levels of sleepiness that make tasks (like prayer and bible reading) really difficult

Conclusion

Next time you're feeling extremely tired or heavy pray this prayer!

"I loose the yoke of slothfulness and sluggardness off my eyelids in the name of Jesus Christ"

But what if that didn't work?

I'm going to be blunt, it might be faith, but faith isn't complicated. The spiritual world can seem very complex, and this is because it's completely opposite to our carnal understanding. Below is a brief description to the different causes of sleepiness, as well as the prayer to fix it:

  • Yoke of the spirit of deep sleep [Is applied to the eyelids]

    • Isaiah 29:10 Describes a spirit of deep sleep that stops prophets from seeing into the spirit and receiving from God. This comes as you naturally go to sleep, which is good so the flesh can rest, Genesis 2:21, Job 4:13. The flesh is made to sleep, not the spirit. A sleeping spirit brings death, first spiritually then physically.

    • This yoke is identified when you never get interpretations of visions or dreams or never get visions and dreams to begin with.

    • Prayer, "I loose the yoke of the spirit of deep sleep off my eyelids in the name of Jesus Christ"

  • Yoke of the spirit of slumber [Is applied to the eyelids]

Yoke of the spirit of Delilah [Is applied to the eyelids]

  • Judges 16:19 "And she made him sleep upon her knees; and she called for a man, and she caused him to shave off the seven locks of his head; and she began to afflict him, and his strength went from him."

    • Makes you sleepy when she is around so you can fall to her temptations, feels like a drunken sleepiness

    • She carries the weight of lead on her knees

Yoke of the spirit of slumber [Is applied to the eyelids]

  • A spirit of slumber brings a deep desire to sleep while reading the Bible or praying.

    • Praying in tongue

    • Praying

    • Reading the Bible

    • Sharing the word

Did you know?

Experiencing things like this is one small perk that comes when you make Jesus your Lord. God genuinely cares for his children and wants all mankind to repent and believe in the shed blood of His only Son, Jesus Christ. Something even greater than removing sleepiness is removing the effects of death and eternal damnation! The fear of death and hell grips many, but Jesus has set us free from the power of death and hell by paying for all our sin, click here to learn how you can be set free too!
